Enhancing Your Child's Well-Being with Paediatric Physio

By Aaron Babb · 4 June 2024

We specialise in paediatric and kids physiotherapy services tailored to children's unique needs, promoting health and wellbeing through personalised care plans built around how children grow, move and play.

Why paediatric physiotherapy is different

Children aren't simply small adults — their bodies are growing and developing, which means both the conditions they experience and the way we treat them need a different approach. Paediatric physiotherapy takes into account a child's stage of development, using play-based, engaging methods rather than traditional adult treatment approaches.

Conditions we support

  • Developmental delays — supporting children who need extra help reaching movement milestones
  • Coordination difficulties — building the motor skills needed for everyday activities and play
  • Growth-related conditions — including common issues like Osgood-Schlatter and Sever's disease in active, growing children
  • Sports injuries — helping young athletes recover safely and return to the activities they love
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation — supporting recovery after orthopaedic or other surgery
  • Neurological and disability-related needs — including conditions such as cerebral palsy, often supported through NDIS funding

Our approach to paediatric care

Sessions are designed to be engaging and appropriate for a child's age and interests — using play, movement games and activities that keep children motivated, rather than approaches designed for adult patients. We also work closely with parents, ensuring you understand your child's condition and feel confident supporting their home exercise program.

Specialised equipment for children

Our Kirrawee clinic features paediatric-specific equipment, including the Motek C-Mill VR for engaging, task-specific gait and balance training, and the Tyromotion Myro for upper-limb and cognitive-motor therapy — technology that makes therapy both effective and enjoyable for children.

Supporting the whole family

A child's physiotherapy journey involves the whole family. We aim to make the process clear, supportive and collaborative — explaining what's happening, why, and how you can help at home, so progress continues well beyond clinic visits.

When to consider paediatric physiotherapy

If you have any concerns about your child's movement, coordination, recovery from injury, or developmental progress, an assessment can provide clarity and, where needed, a supportive path forward.

Book a paediatric physiotherapy assessment with our team in the Sutherland Shire to discuss how we can support your child's wellbeing.
